I spend most of my time in exjw reddit. About a week ago we got 1000 new subscribers in 36 hours. We are almost reaching 30k subscribers. A lot of the new subscribers relate that they been visiting the site from weeks to about a year and that the site is what helped them wake up. So yes, they do help, but the time varies with each individual. Also circumstances affect the waking up process. JW family still in vs single with non-jw family. In for many years vs in for just a few years. Old timers vs the young generation. There are a lot of variables that affect the waking up process and also a lot of different mind-set personalities.

by minimus ini think that once you get on the internet and you see evidence that shows jehovah’s witnesses do not have the real truth, it can jolt you.
but i don’t think simply going on an internet site typically changes a person’s direction—even if the information is very damning toward the witnesses.
i think it takes time to eventually get out.

instead they wait to drop them at the annual meeting which isnt a even simulcast event.

I cant buy the editing excuse. They have 50+ years of practice with this. They know how to edit and prepare books for rc release dates.
And again the money thing dosent wash either. They already were not releasing hard copies at conventions. This is a weird weird move.Morpheus, you would make one hell of a prosecutor, I would hate to have you trying me for some crime. You just keep digging until all the shit comes out.

No it's not a shame. This site is not responsible for supporting any JW's who leave the organization, no one is responsible for another's mistake Except themselves.
Those that leave the organization have to man-up and learn to deal with life and quit being such babies. I was raised in the organization, father an elder and mother a pioneer for years. I never bought into that stuff and swam against the current for years. Now my parents don't attend the meetings. I didn't need this place or any other place to support me, heck, I deal with life on my own.
I come here for entertainment. If there wasn't any debates and "Drama" I wouldn't visit this place. Like when Morpheus and Slim go at it about the organization dying or NOT..
Or when Cofty starts on the subject of evolution and someone like Nimble duck jumps in and calls him on it. You know, without these heated debates and a bit of name calling, people like me wouldn't be interested enough to keep reading the posts and the result would be that we wouldn't pursue any research on our own and come to our own conclusions. We would stay ignorant on several subjects.
Or when the subject of Trump comes up.I love to hear the different views especially since I don't spend much time trying to figure out stuff about Trump.I have no idea if he is doing good or bad for the country. I come here to get both sides of the story and usually under all the bull, there are several that post some good reasonable, logical arguments that I was unaware.
There are a lot of websites that I visit, Non-exjw and some exjw.I don't visit exjw website because I need someone to change my diaper cause Watchtower won't change it anymore. I visit from time to time to learn. Some of the posts are pretty educational.Don't baby the JWs, or feel sorry for them. There's plenty of information out there from secular sources besides exjw sites. Maybe the old generation needed exjws to hold their hand as they exited the Watchtower, but young ones like me don't need anyone to hold our hands.If you have to baby someone out of the WT organization, maybe you need to let them grow up a bit and they will eventually exit on their own and do fine, with or without exjw sites.

I can say this about my situation. I live in the U.S.A. All my non-jw family have armed themselves to the tee the past few years. Some of them have taken classes in using firearms, defense and offense tactics. Other of my uncles are retired veterans and know their stuff. They have taken me along and even paid for some of my classes but I can only see and not participate. I still need a few years before I can legally buy a pistol, and get a permit for conceal carry, but I can own one as long as I keep it home.
I can also own my own rifles. My uncles have already bought me a Walther PPQ Q5, and I train at home with dummy rounds.I have been taught how to take the gun apart and put it back together. One of my veteran uncles taught me how to take an AR apart and put it back together. He already got me a lower receiver and wants me to start building my own AR rifle.
Why? Because we expect a civil war to break out or some type of break down of sorts in our country, or at the least, our state. We are preparing ourselves. When I go out with my Uncles, to some large gathering of people, all of them conceal carry, including my aunts. None of them ever go to the movies, restaurant, some festival without their guns. All of them have trained for years. If some crazy person starts shooting people and my uncles and aunts don't get gunned down immediately, they will take that person out in seconds. They are excellent marksmen. The result of years of shooting.
My dad who used to be an elder and doesn't attend anymore just bought his first gun a few months ago. He was so freaking scared, he didn't touch it for weeks and had no bullets. My uncles have been helping him.
I think a civil was will break out in my time, I am still young.

Think about reality, what we see with our eyes. The planet earth functions because the life on it is predatory. In order for life to exist, there is a food chain. Humans being on the very top, all the way down to the cell. Everything eats everything in order for life to survive. Do you enjoy a good steak, or how about some fried chicken. Then you are part of the food chain. Even if you decide to be a vegetarian, a lion will not care, and if you get in his way, you will be his dinner for the day.
Think about what kind of Creator would deliberately design a Wasp that injects its eggs inside a caterpillar so that in a matter of days, the eggs hatch and then start eating the caterpillar from the inside out till eventually they eat their way out, but being careful not to kill the caterpillar as they burst themselves out. Once out, the caterpillar loses brain function and starts spinning a cocoon to protect the larva that breaks out of the caterpillar. There are literally hundreds of examples like this. And nowhere in the bible does it say animals are suffering as the result of man’s sin. It’s just the way they were “Designed”---or evolved.
A wise, loving Creator could certainly do a better job in designing life without the necessary pain and suffering. Plants can grow and flourish with just soil, rain and sun.Why couldn't he design animals and humans without the pain and suffering?
There is also another possibility that has to be considered if a person wants to believe in a Creator. That being that the Creator died. He was not eternal like we have been led to believe. And thus we are on our own. That would be another explanation why he has not interfered in human activities and stopped all the suffering.
Perhaps if there was a Creator or Creators, that lived, they created successively. One dying and another replacing and finishing the work of our local physical universe.
For example think about how many times humans started a project like the Golden Gate Bridge. The original planners and creators could easily die and another group could take over and finish the project. Perhaps something like that happened.
It is said that in another 100 years humans will finally create life. Either Artificial machine or organic. We are already in the process of building or growing body organs. Many of the ones that started in this endeavor have died, but the project continues and new scientist and doctors pick up where the last left off.
If we do create life, what would be the purpose—TO BE WORSHIPED---I doubt it. The reason would be simple;
BECAUSE WE COULD CREATE!
So it is possible that we were created by someone or the process was started by something and they died. Then another group took over and either lost interest and started another project in another part of the universe or the project continues. We personally will probably never know.
And as hard as it is to imagine, it’s possible that all creation was created for the simple reason that;
THEY COULD!

I doubt the 28 year old exists outside of his imagination to be honest so I wouldn't worry. No sane woman in her twenties would go near an underage boy, there's nothing less attractive. She's either imaginary or deranged.
You comment stirred my interest because my first main comment was in relation to the OP, to show that today all you have to do is;
(All you need to believe is that we are close to the end.)
My second post was to show that my parents are not research-inclined as the OP suggested. And I pointed out that the elders in my hall don’t even enjoy being elders, since most have told me it’s a pain in the neck. So I doubt they are research-inclined. Then I pointed that most of my friends my age aren’t research-inclined either. Then my next post was just to elaborate a little to Diogenesister about my age and my situation.
So I was taken by surprise when you made a stink about my situation. So I showed my older brother and asked him what he thought? He explained to me that this site is mostly for Older exjws that were true believers and didn’t figured the con till later in life. So they are very skeptical of everything.
Ok, that makes sense. But my situation is the real thing and it’s not a big deal. I’m not even close to what others my age are doing.
I do admit that I have a difficulty understanding why you think my post is imaginary, being that you believed--- for who knows how long, that people could live forever in a paradise earth and pet pandas.
I mean we are taught in the 8th grade that our brains weigh about 3 pounds and are about 6 inches long. I mean how is something finite able to store memories for trillions and trillions of years? I mean logic tells us that when your computer runs out of space, you need either a new hard drive or you need to pay for a service to store your data. I think most of the kids my age figured out by age 14 that living forever in a paradise was not possible.
I’m not putting you down, I’m just saying I have a hard time understanding why my story is so hard to believe, but -(living forever, last days, Armageddon, etc)-was not that hard to believe???

That’s right DOF, we know very little about WT doctrine. And honestly we don’t see any benefit in learning any of it being that it’s all bull.All you really have to say when you are with a group of old JWs is “The end must be close” and you will keep them off the radar.
Either there were not girls like that when I was dating (in what seems like the 1900s now) or I was just in the wrong damn crowd!

I'm guessing your about 15 and that twenty eight year old winked at you during the Watchtower study.
I’m going to be 18 next year. The sister is 28 now, but was 26ish when it happened for me. She cried afterwards because she said if I told anyone, she would get in trouble. There is no way I was going to tell anyone, she changed my world. Plus she is so beautiful and tall. She is 5 foot 10 inches tall and could pass for a model.
After that wonderful memory, I would go over to her apartment on weekends after service and it just kept happening over and over. She says there is no one her age and only old guys want to date her but she says she would not be happy with any of them.
And she doesn’t mind if I see other girls. She wants me to find someone my age but the other two girls that I see are older than me also. But I don’t mind because they are just as hot and there is no brothers their age either in their Kingdom Hall and they hate when old guys in their 40s and 50s ask them out. So instead they are always having me over and treat me like a prince. I tell no one about them either, plus they are in different Kingdom Halls which is good for all of us. We just have to be careful.
I normally hang out in exjw reddit because most of the posters are my age and we share similar experiences. Ever once and while I keep hearing about this Franz guy who was president, and I’ve see his picture on the internet, but I can’t figure out why old JWs thought he was this smart guy. To me he looks like this tiny old man. What was so special about him??? I don’t even think he ever got married from what I hear. I’m not sure why that is a big thing.

Haha, not in my hall, I know for a fact that mom and dad NEVER talk about bible stuff at home. They used to, but not anymore. They kind of changed in the past few years.
Heck my dad is an elder and he's sick of it. He hardly goes to the meetings and the other elders are always calling him to ask what happened because he missed a talk or something. He always appoints a ministerial servant to lead the group in service. He didn't even attend the last CO visit. He and mom went on a small vacation and told the elders that something personal came up, but one of my brothers and I know they went to Hawaii.
And the other elders are always telling me that being an elder is a pain in the neck. My brother told me that dad is going to step down at the beginning of next year and my mom who has been a regular pioneer since I can remember is going to quit coming January
And my friends my age just go to the hall and field service to hang around and do stuff, not to learn any bible stuff. Plus I have three girl-friends in the circuit that I really like. They've taught me a lot about life and are so freaking hot. If it wasn't for them, I would know nothing about sex. They are all older than me and the oldest one (28) years old is the one that had taught me everything. She is a wild freaking pioneer that has made me confident with the opposite sex.
So for me personally, I love going to the Kingdom Hall. I'm not going anywhere, even if dad and mom slow down.
